Do I have to pre-book to climb?

To help us monitor our capacity and allow everyone to maintain a social distance while climbing, we are currently asking everyone to book and register before arriving at the centre.

I know how to safely use an indoor bouldering facility, do I have to do an induction or Give It A Go session?

Not at all. If you’re an experienced boulderer and know what you’re doing you can self-certify as competent and come along to any unsupervised bouldering session.

I’ve climbed at Boulders Cardiff before, do I have to register again?

Nope!

What’s going on with memberships?

We are now offering adult and student memberships. These are under review and in the future we hope to be able to introduce other memberships such as off peak, family, fewer entries per month, concessions etc.

Are you adding roped climbing?

We’re keen to keep developing Boulders Cheltenham to meet the needs of the community, so if we see a demand for it then we’ll definitely think about adding routes (but realistically, a big update like this is probably a couple of years away!)

How often are you going to reset?

We’re aiming to have a comprehensive reset every 4-6 weeks. We think this is a good balance of giving people time to work on their projects without the blocs getting stale.

Will you be introducing peak/ off peak entry prices?

We always keep our pricing under constant review, even moreso under COVID restrictions. If we see a demand for it and a benefit to the climbing community then we’ll try and make it work.

What conditioner does Gav use?

As far a modern science can work out our instructor, setter and all-round hype man Gavin’s hair conditioner is not of this world. A team at CERN is currently looking into it.

Thanks to an update from the Association of British Climbing Walls in September 2020, we are now able to offer climbing shoe hire for £4. All shoes will be thoroughly sanitised after use.

Can I hire climbing shoes?

Yes, you can supervise your children at Boulders as long as your child is aged seven or older. As a competent boulderer you can supervise up to two novices. You will need to make sure that you and your children are registered here before attending, and you must sign them in at reception when you arrive.

Due to our still facing strict capacity limits, we need to carefully monitor the number of people in the building. Therefore even if you’re not intending to boulder yourself, you still need to book a space for you as a superviser i.e. if you’re coming to supervise your two children, you would need to book three spaces.

If you’re only supervising you don’t need to pay for a space for yourself, so use the code SUPERVISOR99 to get your space for free. However if you use this code you will need to remain on the floor at all times.

I’m a competent boulderer. Can I supervise my children?

Yes there are! We have recently introduced some classes for children which are fully supervised by Boulders instructors. No experience is necessary, as these classes will introduce children to the sport in a fun and friendly environment.

We have split the classes down into different age groups, and you can book your child’s space online here. We have a class for children aged 7-9 every weekend day at 10:30, and a class for children aged 10-13 every weekend day at 11:30.

The classes last for one hour and are run on a ratio of 1 instructor to every 4 children.

Children should wear comfy sports clothing (joggers and a t-shirt is ideal!) and trainers. Long hair must be tied back and no dangling jewellry is allowed.

If the child has not attended a session with us before, they will need to have a registration form completed by a parent or guardian before they can climb.

My children want to visit but I can’t climb. Are there classes they can attend?
